The rally's purpose is to advocate for legislation impacting autism, special needs, and disability communities.  Bill topics include: extension of SB 946, diversity and equality of services through regional centers, consumer safety, among others.  

Senator Ben Hueso is the author of SB 522 which protects families with private health insurance, who otherwise qualify for services, from being charged by Regional Centers.  Some Regional centers are now requiring parents to co-pay for autism services covered by insurance.  SB 163 requires a Regional Centers to pay for all co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles imposed by health insurance or health plans for services that are designated in an Individual Program Plan (IPP) or Individual Family Support Plan (IFSP).  Reimbursement may be provided directly to the family or to the providers or health plan.

Sacramento, Calif. (April 30, 2013) – The Senate Transportation and Housing Committee has approved Senator Ben Hueso’s (D-San Diego) bill, SB 397,  which allows for the creation of an Enhanced Driver’s License issued by the state of California’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
