SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 27, 2012) –Assemblymember Ben Hueso honored AZ1 Lutheran M. Carter today in Sacramento at the 2012 Veterans Recognition Luncheon. Petty Officer Carter, stationed at the Naval Base Coronado, serves in the U.S. Navy’s Aviation Maintenance Administration.

“Petty Officer Carter is an exemplary choice for the 79th Assembly District’s Veteran of the Year,” said Assemblymember Hueso. “He has shown his dedication to serving our country not only as a model sailor but as a community volunteer. I am proud to honor his courage and accomplishments.”

California Latino Caucus honors Gary Soto and ten others in Assembly ceremony

Sacramento, Calif. (May 7, 2012) – The California Latino Caucus honored the 2012 Latino Spirit Awards recipients today, in a State Capitol ceremony. Gary Soto, one of the eleven honorees, was nominated by Assemblymember Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) for his achievements in art and literature.

San Diego, Calif. (January 27, 2012) – Assemblymember Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) announced today a bill he plans to introduce at in the state legislature that will protect victims of domestic violence and stalking by authorizing a judge to order the use of GPS monitoring on a perpetrator.

The $846,950 grant from HCD was among only 23 awarded throughout the State

San Diego, Calif. - (Today Assemblymember Ben Hueso announced a grant for his district in the amount of $846,950 from the California Department of Housing and Community Development for the construction of Festival Park located in The Village at Market Creek. The project is planned in partnership with the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation (JCNI) and the City of San Diego.
