(Sacramento, CA) – During a November 20 quarterly meeting, the Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB) approved approximately $26 million in grants to help restore and protect fish and wildlife habitats throughout California. The funds for all these projects come from bond initiatives approved by voters to help preserve and protect California's natural resources. The approved grants include $3.3 million for Salton Sea species and habitat conservation.

(El Centro, CA) – After a long wait and continuous uncertainty over an $11 million bond for the construction of the El Centro Aquatic Center, the state’s Department of Finance recently announced that those funds have been finally approved. With this funding, the City of El Centro can carry out its plans to build out the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sports Pavilion/Adams Park area with an aquatic center, replacing The Plunge, the old city pool demolished nearly 10 years ago.
SB 1228 will provide infrastructure improvements along regional and federal trade corridors

SB 1228 maintains the Trade Corridors Improvement Fund (TCIF), which was set to expire fiscal year 2015-16. A press conference to discuss the bill will be held on Friday, October 3 at Cesar Chavez Park.

California Ethanol & Power Awarded $3.1 Million Tax Credit from California Competes Program

(Imperial, CA) – This past June, California Ethanol & Power (CE&P), LLC was awarded a $3.1 million income tax credit as part of the California Competes program, administered by the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). CE&P was selected as one of 31 companies recommended to the California Competes Tax Credit Committee from a highly competitive pool of almost 400 applicants.
SB 1292 will guarantee more resources to provide clean water to disadvantaged communities

Sacramento, CA) – Senate Bill 1292 will increase the maximum amount of construction grants awarded for projects serving a severely disadvantaged community under the Safe Drinking Water State Revolving Fund from $3 million to $5 million. The current $3 million cap does not reflect the increased cost of living experienced in California since the Safe Drinking Water State Revolving Fund was established.
SB 1171 to require disclosures that reduce conflict of interest
(Sacramento, CA) – Senator Hueso announced today the successful approval from the Governor on his bill to promote consumer protection and enhance ethical dealings for small business owners involved in commercial real estate transactions.
(Calexico, CA) – A total of $2.7 million was included in this year’s state budget to fund the Calexico municipal pool that was destroyed in 2010 by the Easter earthquake. To commemorate this effort, Senator Hueso will hold a press conference this Thursday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m.
