How to Prepare for Wildfires and Other Emergencies
As we continue through peak wildfire season, it is critical for all Californians to be prepared for these and other emergencies. To help you and your family plan ahead, I have included information below from the Listos California Emergency Preparedness Campaign.
Listos California is an effort designed by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, and supported by Catholic Charities, to ready our most-vulnerable populations for disasters such as wildfires, earthquakes, floods, and public health emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic, before disasters strike. The campaign’s 5-Point Plan and Disaster Ready Guide are designed to help people get ready for an emergency by preparing in advance.
The 5-point plan is simple and easy to remember:
1. Get local alerts
2. Make a plan
3. Go to Safety (Pack a Go Bag)
4. Stay Safe at Home (Build a Stay Box)
5. Get Involved (Help family and friends)
