RESOURCES AND ASSISTANCE FOR SENIORS AND CAREGIVERS
I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. While we all are finding life more difficult during these times, we must be especially mindful of helping seniors and other vulnerable individuals in our communities. For example, older and high-risk folks may be feeling very isolated right now. We can help them by checking-in. I've also compiled a list of senior and caregiver related resources below that you or someone you know may find helpful.
On Wednesday, April 29 at 11:00am, I will be hosting a livestream teleconference dedicated solely to topics affecting seniors amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. We will hear from guest speakers from AARP California, San Diego County District Attorney's Elder Abuse Unit, Imperial County Area Agency on Aging, San Diego County Adult Protective Services, and Southern Caregiver Resource Center, who will answer your questions and review senior resources, how to protect and support seniors and caregivers, current fraudulent activity and scams, and more issues facing the senior community during the COVID-19 crisis. Please join us by watching the livestream here: https://sd40.senate.ca.gov/coronavirus-update

We will have a Spanish interpreter, as well. For more information on how to access the audio in Spanish during the event, click here.
As always, if you need any state assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my offices. We are working full-time remotely to continue to serve you.
Please stay home and stay healthy.

ADDITIONAL STATE RESOURCES
This is a difficult time for all of us, but particularly so for high-risk people, like seniors. The State has partnered with AARP California to make sure older Californians get the support they need, including protection against fraud and abuse. For more info, visit http://aarp.org/coronavirus.
Older Californians and caregivers who are grieving, dealing with anxiety, or feeling alone can connect with a friendly specialist by calling the Friendship Line at (888) 670-1360. https://www.ioaging.org/services/all-inclusive-health-care/friendship-line
Our office is calling senior constituents in our district to make sure they have everything they need and, if not, help identify resources & assistance for their particular situation. I encourage everyone to call at least 5 people they know today to check-in. #StayHomeSaveLives
