Sacramento, CA… State Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), today announced that Governor Brown signed into law Senate Bill 948 which would eliminate the sunset date of January 1st, 2018 for the pilot program Increased Access to Responsible Small Dollar Loans and make it permanent for Californians. This new law which goes into effect on January 1, 2017 will continue to increase the availability of responsible small dollar installment loans of at least $300 but less than $2,500.

Senate Bill 448 provides stronger terms for use by law enforcement to combat online predators. Senate bill (SB) 1399 extends the sunset date from January 1, 2017 to January 1, 2019 on an existing California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) pilot program that evaluates alternatives to license plates and registration documents.

San Diego, CA… Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) announced today that Senate Bill 899, which will prohibit business establishments from charging customers different prices for similar or like goods on the basis of gender, has passed the State Senate.
San Diego, CA…State Senator Ben Hueso, Chair of the Senate Energy, Utilities and Communications Committee, introduced a measure that will strengthen regulatory oversight of ride-hailing services, which are technology enabled transportation services, while supporting their continued growth. Senate Bill 1035 addresses some of the existing shortcomings of the regulatory oversight of these services. The bill requires the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to assess and determine public safety, consumer protections and enforcement.
